Room Partitions

What are some practical ways to layout a right angle on a floor ?
i want to make sure before i do a room partition.
First of all – see if your room is square – because it needs to be for your flooring to work properly.
The 3-4-5 rule is how you check for square (see above).
Simplest way is (once the room is cleared away for work), to get a straight piece of 2×4, and lay it on the floor approximately where the wall is to go. Then measure out from the opposite walls of both rooms and mark on the floor where the same distances are. Chances are good the measurements will be both slightly off. If you’re tiling or laying hardwood in one room, keep that room as close to exact as you can because the tiles and wood need to have straight lines to the wall. Carpeting can be fudged so that area won’t matter so much.
Once you have a good idea of the size of room you want, you can decide whether it’s more important to have a parallel line to the adjacent walls, or a perfect square off the back wall for flooring.
