Tile Floor Cleaning
Cleaning pourous floor tile?
Any tips on cleaning floor tile that needs to be resealed? I’ve tried hydrogen peroxide and bakng soda, bleach, and Tilex.
I want to get the tile cleaned once and for all so that I can reseal those suckers.
Try to determine what was used to seal them in the first place. Some floor finishes require special cleaners. Some finishes (sealers, varnish etc.) require removal like stripping furnature. I suggest stripping small areas at a time and using a wet/dry vac. with the filter removed to cut down on surrounding damage. Some finishes will come up with a mixture of water, ammonia, and landry detergant. If it is buildup and what you have used did not work, try a mild acid like sulfamic acid. Large lumber yards will have sufamic in the tile section. Note: If the tile is cement based,limestone, marble, or slate, do not use acid of any type on them. You will ruin the surface of the tile. It might help to know what kind of pourous tile you have.
